'Class of 2020' Slack - Creating a community for Design Graduates
↳ Currently at 132 graduates! 🤩👀
Over the past couple of months, I have been lucky enough to get to know and build some fab friendships with fellow third years studying at universities across the country. It has been an eye-opening and refreshing experience not only talking to new people but also gaining new perspectives, new ideas and new opportunities. Therefore, I thought why not make this more accessible and create a Slack Channel — a place that we can build a design community of our own, the Class of 2020.
The main aim of this Slack is to build a community, particularly in times like these. A way to keep in touch, collaborate and share resources, but also a space to pass on advice, inspiration and get to know fellow young creatives from different Universities, in a comfortable, safe environment. We got through all of this together, so let’s stick together.

"This has grown into something far beyond what I originally expected and I am completely blown away by the support, the involvement and all of the lovely messages I have received - they have truly warmed my heart. Not only has the channel managed to grow into a community of over 80 grads, but it also covers over 15 different Universities across the country and throughout Europe! We have even managed to travel over the Atlantic to America and Brazil, which is incredible! Ever since this was all announced, I have not stopped smiling. Building connections, friendships and learning from one another has always been a passion of mine and something that I have learnt to value more and more over the past couple months. I know I have said it, but I will say it again, thank you. As we leave education and enter the 'real world', this is something we need more than ever, I hope this can make a positive impact on other's lives, because I know it already has on mine."

"Can't believe i'm saying this, but we have managed to reach the one hundred mark. 100 GRADS?! Again, thank you for such a fantastic response and involvement with this initiative - I hope to get the Slack ball rolling a lot more over the next couple of days, so keep your eyes peeled! It has been a fab initial couple of days, I have been spending some time scrolling through everyone's websites and looking at the amazing work - Class of 2020 are killin' it! I have had some exciting ideas regarding possible industry Q&A connections, community highlights and more ways to bring us all closer together in a time of separation and worry!"
